Spring 2026 Closet Check-in
The T-Shirt
My current workhorse is the ASKET T-shirt in melange (aka, charcoal). I started getting these in 2021 when they were (only!) $45. I’ve had 2 of them finally get a hole in them since. I wear either the melange or melange grey nearly every day of the year. I don’t wash after every wear, and I always wear with an undershirt.
The Pants
Outlier Slim Dungarees. They (were?) are expensive, getting close to $200 a pair. But, wait, after checking now, they’re $100? What happened? I originally got these to be able to handle riding my bike to the office in rain or slight drizzles. For travel, they pack light and compact, and can be worn either casually, to go wine tasting, or to a nice meal. The only issue’s been that my dad-bod’s been starting to show difficulty in getting into these “slim” fits recently. D’oh!
The Jeans
Unlike some friends who consider jeans a long term investment, I think of jeans as disposable, so I go for a cheaper option: UNIQLO’s Slim Straight Selvedge are my go-to, and their free alterations to fit my short legs is hard to beat.
The Shoes
Allen Edmonds Courtside Lace-up Sneaker in Chili Leather is like my everywhere anytime shoes: riding the bike, picking up the kid, meeting friends for lunch, wine tasting, a fancy-ish dinner, travel. It’s my no-choice choice that works nearly everywhere I need to go.
The Flashlight
The one that lives in my bag the most right now is the ReyLight LANapple. I have it in blue. It’s lightweight, stylish, and in case I ever run out of battery on it, I can throw in an alkaline AA in it. I’ll also slip into my pocket the LOOPDOT for giggles and its nice moonlight.
Everything else
- Socks: Allen Edmonds Mid-calf Merino Cool Dress Socks are socks that actually end up staying up on my calves instead of annoyingly slipping down. They don’t get too hot, but unfortunatley they end up wearing down easily. When I need more warmth, I go for a pair of Darn Tough socks.
- Underwear: UNIQLO Airism.
- Watch: Apple Watch. It’s taken over my wrist, and I’m kinda annoyed that I don’t wear my Seiko 5 as much as I’d like.
- Man purse: Tom Bihn Side Kick, which has gotten pretty grimy over time.
