Karaoke with Apple Music Sing
Ali and I love to sing karaoke at home. We’ve been known to make the night hours disappear without realizing it while singing away with each other.
It’s often been a pain for us to get a good reliable system for karaoke at home.
In the perfect setup:
- We use an Apple TV app where we can control pause/skip with the remote.
- We have access to a large and updated library with both classic songs as well as recent pop hits.
- We can input and reorder songs without interrupting the current performer through an iPad or iOS app.
In the past, we’ve used an iPad app called KaraFun. The app would use screen mirroring to drive or Apple TV, and we’d use the iPad display for managing songs.
More recently we’ve just been going to YouTube and searched for karaoke versions of songs. This always felt a little clunky, and we’d sometimes end up with weird versions of songs or non-karaoke versions.
Apple just announced what I hope to be a great solution:
Apple today announced Apple Music Sing, an exciting new feature that allows users to sing along to their favorite songs with adjustable vocals and real-time lyrics. Apple Music Sing offers multiple lyric views to help fans take the lead, perform duets, sing backup, and more — all integrated within Apple Music’s unparalleled lyrics experience.
I can’t wait to try this out to see if this can streamline our setup at home.
