Every day, Sofi Tukker has been live streaming a DJ set. This year at Inside Lands (the shelter in place version of San Francisco’s annual Outside Lands music festival), they played a live set to the party people who stayed up to dance along.
They’re clearly veterans to doing virtual shows, as you could tell they had the energy to get the viewers going even without having a physical crowd in front of them. Their dancing, moving, and singing all brought an experience that was beyond just the music, and they used the medium for what it was.
I’m impressed by these types of artists who are embracing the new medium of playing to crowds over video. It’s new, it’s different, and I bet there’s plenty to learn.
Bravo to all of them.
